This was the saddest
part of the tour. As we were all solemnly paying Stevie our respects,
a very light sprinkle began to fall from the sky. The rain lasted
only a minute. We all felt that this was Stevie's way of saying,
"Thanks, guys, I love you too."

The headstone of Jimmie Lee Vaughan, Stevie's father. Notice that Jimmie died on 8-27-86, exactly four years before Stevie's death on 8-27-90. The "G" symbol on his grave represents his Masonic affiliation. He was also a World War II veteran. If you are facing Stevie's grave, Jimmie's grave is located above and to the left. On the photo below, you can see the vase shown here which contained a wilted rose. ![]()
A different perspective of Stevie's grave. Fans often leave "gifts" to Stevie, and the day we visited someone had left a red baseball hat that you can see hanging in the tree. Candles, religious figures and guitar picks are regularly left on Stevie's headstone.
