Leptochiton algesirensis (Capellini, 1859)

This one-half inch chiton is moderately elevated and has a rather narrow girdle. The valves are covered with very small granules in radiating series on lateral areas. The granules are arranged in longitudinal rows on central areas. The color of the valves and girdle is whitish to dirty yellow, sometimes stained with dark brown.

The illustrated specimen is from the Burghardt Collection and was collected in the Canary Islands
