Callistochiton crassicostatus Pilsbry, 1893

The finely scaled girdle of this one inch chiton is rather narrow. The lateral area of the median valves is raised to prominently that it appears as a large single rib. The central area has longitudinal grooves with crosslines giving a mottled appearance. The tail valve has a highly posterior mucro with 3-6 heavy bifurcated ribs. The head valve has 7 grooved ribs. The color ofthe girdle is cream with brown bands. The valves are mottled grayish green and light brown.
