Chiton (Rhyssoplax) crawfordi Sykes, 1899

This elliptical shaped chiton is carinated and slightly beaked. The whole shell, which is variable in shades of pink, olive, and dark brown, is smooth except for a series of pits and grooves in the central area where it abuts the lateral area. The lateral area is strongly raised and without sculpture except for minute decussation. The girdle has rather large, imbricating scales.

Illustrated specimen is from the Burghardt Collection and was collected by Alan Seccombe in False Bay, South Africa
