Plaxiphora (Fremblya) egregia (H.Adams, 1866)
This medium sized chiton (1/2 - 1 inch) is roundish ovate in shape being slightly narrower in anterior end. Color of valves is light olivaceus with contrasting blotches of green. Occasionally a specimen shows a vague orange hue. Lateral areas well raised, sculptured with two strong, radiating ribs. Central areas with 12-28 longitudinal, granular ribs. Granulose between the ribs. The girdle is moderately wide (narrower at end valves) and is pale reddish brown in color. It is covered with small, bluntly pointed spicules.
