Tonicia forbesii Carpenter, 1857

This 50 mm chiton has buff colored valves which are obliquely striped with dark olive or spotted with brown. The lateral areas are studded with small black eyes. Girdle is tan and leathery and appears nude. There is a subspecies Tonicia forbesi arnhemi Dall, 1903 which is endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
