Dinoplax gigas (Gmelin, 1791)

This large chiton is variable in sculpture due to most commonly quite eroded. The chiton is broad, strongly carinated with lateral areas strongly raised and decorated with numerous, broken, radial riblets. The central areas are variable. The girdle is densely spiculose.

Illustrated specimen ( 1 1/2 inch juvenile) is from the Burghardt Collection and was collected in South Africa.
