Lepidozona interstincta (Gould, 1852)

This one inch chiton has a scaled girdle where the scales are larger near the valves progressing down in size to smaller ones near the outer edge. The lateral areas are not distinctly defined. The entire surface, even though it looks smooth to the naked eye, is minutely granulated. The mucro is anti-median. This chiton is highly colored and greatly variable.
