Calloplax janeirensis (Gray, 1828)
This three-quarter inch oblong chiton has valves colored gray to greenish brown, or speckled with red. They are very strongly sculptured. The lateral areas are strongly elevated by 3 or 4 very coarse large, beaded ribs. The jugal tract has longitudinal rows of fine beads. The central areas have about twelve very sharp, granulose, longitudinal ribs. Girdle has very fine scales and an occasional single hair.
