Tonicella marmorea (Facricius, 1780)

This one inch chiton is oblong to oval in shape and has elevated and rather acutely angular valves. These valves are colored a light tan covered with a heavy suffusion of dark red maculations and specks. Surface of valves appear smooth, although is granulated under a lens. Lateral areas not distinctly outlined. The girdle is leathery and without scales or bristles.
