Tonicella rubra (Linnaeus, 1767)
This oblong one-half inch chiton has moderately elevated valves which are smooth except for growth wrinkles. The valves are colored a light tan covered with a marbling of orange-red, or entirely red. The girdle is reddish brown with weak maculations and covered with minute, elongate scales which do not overlap each other.
