This two and one-quarter inch chiton has a moderate width girdle that is buff to brown in color. This girdle is randomly covered with minute, separated spicules with 10-12 thin hairs which are also located at suture and end valves. In addition there are scattered coarse bristles bearing smaller secondary bristles. The color of the valves can be turquoise-blue with orange-red zig-zag bands, green, tan with red markings or any variation of these.
