If you take
blood thinners, or have small intestine inflammation, or ischemic bowel
disease you should consult with your Doctor before using chitosan.
All pills,
medications (including prescription), over the counter drugs and vitamins,
should be taken either 4 hours before or 4 hours after you take chitosan.
For some users,
chitosan may have a mild laxative effect often associated with dietary
fiber. However, a decreased transit time of matter through the bowels may
have a beneficial cleansing effect. Others may experience constipation
initially, but is normally a temporary condition.
Long term use (6 months or
more) might impede the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E &
K).
