Kj's Pine Needle Basketry

Leather Thimble

I use a pliable supple deer skin leather. A soft cow hide would work just as well I think.

Fold leather right sides together and stitch as shown using a 1/8 inch seam. If your machine has trouble putting leather through the feed dogs as mine does try putting a piece of paper between the machine and the leather. It may dull the needle but it will move easier. Grade seam allowance. Turn right side out and check for fit.

Cut a one inch wide piece of elastic 2 inches long. Fold over 1/4 on each end and stitch to thimble as shown.

I have large hands. A petite person may have to make some adjustments to make the thimble just the right size.
