Ruth Easterling Winters

Pianist

Ruth Easterling Winters is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in accompanying and chamber music at the University of Maryland, College Park. She received the Master of Music in piano performance from Indiana University and the Bachelor of Music from Winthrop University.

In great demand as a collaborative artist, she has performed as recitalist in the United States and Europe. Recent performances include appearances in New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Norfolk, and San Francisco. Ms. Winters recently appeared as pianist for the innaugural performance of Art Song of Williamsburg, a new professional recital series in Williamsburg, VA. She has also been assistant and coach with New Hampshire's Opera North and the Maryland Opera Studio, as well as the 2000 Opera Festival di Roma in Rome, Italy.

Ms. Winters served as competition pianist for the Marian Anderson International Vocal Competition in 1997 and 1999 and has toured with national touring companies of Phantom of the Opera and Victor, Victoria. Faculty positions have included Virginia Commonwealth University Community School of the Performing Arts, Christopher Newport University, and the Summer Institute for the Arts of the Newport News (VA) Public Schools. Numerous appearances in chamber music concerts include the Norfolk Chamber Consort and the Waterfront International Arts Festival.
