Health is of the utmost importance here at Furreal and our top most consideration in our breeding program. We pride ourselves on staying well informed on the latest research concerning feline health, nutrition and breeding communicating with other breeders regularly and attending special seminars geared towards bettering our program and increasing our knowledge whenever possible.
Through communications with other breeders weekly and world wide ~ thanks to the internet, we can discuss, support and help one another on all aspects of having a successful breeding program, exhibiting/showing, and even regarding placing kittens into loving homes!
Second Priority here at Furreal is temperament but not any less of a priority then health. Due to our years as experienced breeders, we here at Furreal are convinced that temperament is both genetic in nature and a product of socialization. Both, genetics and socialization, are very important and indeed necessary to insure a loving kitten. A well rounded Ragdoll will greet visitors and will desire to follow you from room to room seeking your companionship. They are not necessarily a lap cat per say but will thoroughly enjoy sitting right next to you!
The Furreal breeding program strives towards the recognized Ragdoll breed standard as the goal, seeking that which will not only improve our breeding program but that which will be an asset to the Ragdoll breed as a whole. Type, is the living standard that Furreal wishes to embrace in our breeding program, continuously striving for better eye color, chin structure, size, and general improvement from one generation to the next.
Furreal takes the issue of coat texture seriously as well! The Ragdoll coat should be silky and nonmatting as well as easy to care for and beautiful to look at. Careful breeding practices here at Furreal insure that we will seek the best qualities to breed your purrfect kitten.
Since 1996 we have been working on the introduction of the Red Points and Lynx patterns into our breeding program. Being inspired by a beautiful Red Point Birman at a TICA show, it has been our desire to see that same rich red color in the Ragdoll. The contrast of the red to the deep blue eyes and that beautiful cream body is just wonderful! If God is willing, we will be in the show ring with our first SBT Reds, Creams and Lynx in 2001! We will not only be able to offer Seals and Blues but SBT Reds, Creams, Torties and Lynx as well.

Raising Kittens is a very important responsibility and we take our responsibility of raising healthy and well socialized kittens seriously. Our kittens are born in a loving home environment where they are watched over very lovingly and carefully from the moment they are born in our bedroom. Making sure that the kittens are protected via a temperature controlled as well as isolated area helps to insure they will grow up healthy and comfortable.
Kittens are not introduced to the "rest of the family" until they have received their first vaccinations and they have a strong, healthy, mature immune system at approximately 10 weeks. Kiyoshi, our 6yr old Shit-izu always seems to get a standing ovation upon introduction - hair standing that is, but soon the kittens and Kiyoshi are family too.
When Furreal kittens reach 12 weeks, they are ready to visit with our veterinarian, to spend the day for altering (spay/neuter). The recovery is quick and over with before going to their new homes. Bonding between the kitten and their new families can then be uninterrupted.
