Mothers Against gang wars is proud to introduce:

We have been blessed with a facility, for CYA wards who are released to the community with out a place to stay or who would like to make a change in there life. This program is a 12 step program targeting youth with drug problems, or wanting to change the gang life style. Here is our mission Statement:

Assisting Individuals in adopting a positive attitude that will allow learning experiences to have a positive impact on their life.

More information about the House Of Change 1 program will be coming to this web site so watch for it. The following is a sample of the introduction those entering the program receive:

"In the coming days you will experience the many components of our program, and you will have an opportunity to  meet the staff and who create and maintain this  supportive environment. All of the groups, meetings and activities that you are asked to participate in are designed to provide you with learning experiences that will enhance your recovery from substance abuse, and provide you with the life skills that will enable a successful integration back into the community.  The program will work for you.  However, it is upon you to adopt a positive attitude that will allow these learning experiences to have an impact on your life. House of Change 1 is not an easy program.  You will be challenged to abide by the structure and requirements.  You will be challenged to expand your comfort zones.  You will be challenged to examine your behavior, thinking, and feelings that have become barriers to your ultimate goals in life.  And you will be challenged to make changes in your life... big and small. Change will not come easily.  there will be ups and downs, successes and disappointments.  But if your actions to bring about change are sincere, then you may depend upon the support of the staff and your fellow residents to assist you in facing your challenges.

As challenging as this program my be, it will always be easier than life in the community. In the House of Change 1 Program you will receive help and support from residents and staff alike, but in the broader community that kind of support does not just happen. A successful transition back into the community will require finding and nurturing your own support groups, whether they be friends, family, religious affiliation, or self-help groups. Our goal  is to empower you to integrate the positive life skills learned in the program with your life in the community."

Making Things Work

This month we would like to give special thanks to the folks at Inreach Communications for their continued support. They have been kind enough to donate the space on their server for our web site. Even though they receive no income from us, they have always been willing to help.

Were Expanding!

Sandra has relocated to Los Angeles to focus her efforts on ending gang violence in California's Largest City. Taking over in Stockton is Larry Dogan who assumes the role of President of MAGW-Stockton. Welcome aboard Larry!

PS. I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND I TRUST NO ONE.

Hello Mrs. Davis

I was corresponding back to you to let and important person like you in the world that a part of your speech touched me in all areas. I never new how soft my gang mentality was until you pulled my covers, and let me no I have feelings as well as fearing things.

My mother has mentioned to me about what your going through with the loss of your sons and ask will I ever leave it alone before It's to late. I always say I don't know. You helped me make a positive decision that my mother will love to hear, but I was just getting at you and hope you go all the way because I'm.

much love Your Friend
Jerome Williams.

Dear Sandra,

My name is Derrel and I'm writing in regards to your son and what you taught me when coming to speak with us First I  would like to say that I'm deeply sorry about what happened to your son and what you went through help me to realize that gang banging is something that will be around but without me in it,  it'll make one less member in society.  Listening to you and the teachings of my victims class has open my eyes to all the hurt and suffering people go through when victimized directly or indirectly. I have developed a love for people based on who they are and not what color they wear. I love life, people, and my family. most of all, I love myself and my abilities. It has helped me to care enough in order to develop positive alternatives to the violence on the streets and keep as many kids that I can save from the nonsense. I just want to thank you, and I hope you succeed in your journey for peace.

Sincerely,
Darrell

Dear Sandra,

I'm very grateful for you coming out here to speak to us.  I took a lot of what you said to my mine, cause I'm still struggling to stay out of that hole. In here I felt the hole, but the hard part about it is when I get back out into my community when I have to face my old home boys.

I hope that you reach your goal in saving more lives, because you look like a motivated person, and I pray to god that your goals be met before your time comes.  I'm the one who drew the "Thank you" poster, I hope you liked it and cherish it for ever.

Sincerely
Victor L.

Letters From Victoria

(1) My name is Victoria Jackson and I live in Paducah, Ky.  We are experiencing an increase in gang participation in our area.  As a mother of five sons, I would like to do something about this problem before it gets too bad.  I would be interested in any information you could pass on about forming a chapter of Mothers Against Gangs in this area.

Thank you,

Victoria

(2)  My name is Victoria Jackson and I live in Paducah, Ky.  I may have already contacted you as I have been combing the Net for the past two weeks searching for information on how to combat the growing gang problem in our community. Paducah is not a large community by most standards but it is the largest in the western quarter of the state.

I have been working closely with our police chief, Kermit Perdew, and one of his officers, Ron Sigers, who has received some special training and I have their support in forming a chapter of Mothers Against Gangs but I need to know how to proceed and would appreciate it greatly if someone would be able to E-mail me at vdjack0@pop.uky.edu with any information possible.

Thank you,

Victoria Jackson

(3)  Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.  I think you have some excellent suggestions, and I'm in the process of trying to locate a gang intervention group, a group that has former gang members mentoring newer members. In the meantime, I really want to find a parent support group because no one in the world can know the pain I'm feeling unless they have been there.

I'm having a hard time locating a group and would probably find a hard time starting a group like that because so many parents are in denial it makes me sick!  I'll just have to try find something on-line.  If you know of anything on-line, please let me know.

Thanks again for your response and your encouragement.
