Welcome
to my page. I am collecting information for my family history. Look at
my tree and feel free to ask me for details about any part of it.
I
have to thank my mother, Viola Dedman for getting me interested and
started in family history. Most of the tree you see is due to her
extensive research over the years. Her marriage to my father, Herbert
Dedman, begins the tree in 1940. They both currently reside on Flathead
Lake in Bigfork, Montana.
The
Dedman branch is lost after five generations, and the Childers side
about the same. I want to extend both sides back as far as information
will allow, and, fill in the children of each marriage to help in
identifying relatives.
Since
I have started my research several months ago I have received some very
valuable information and documents sent to me by others researching the
Dedman family. I have been thrilled to know that others are willing to
share their research with me, for I believe this is the only way tracing
family roots will work and finding relatives you never knew you had. I
want to thank Danny McBee and Von Hamrick Jr. for not only answering my
letters but sending documents of proof to my line.
I
keep my tree in a GEDCOM database, so sharing will be simplified. I am
beginning to add historical notes to the database using Word and scanned
images of birth certificates, wills, marriage licenses, etc.
Funniest line: My sister, Maxine, after looking
through cemeteries in the south, reported failure to find the graves of
any Dedmans. My husband pointed out she was unclear on the concept: "She's
standing in the middle of a cemetery and can't find any dead men?"
