EQLogFilter is a filter program for EverQuest log files. I wrote it after I learned about a cool project called 'The Tribunal Player and Guild History Project' (which is a sister site for 'Adept's Rallos Zek Site'). Basically what this project does is it keeps track of EverQuest players and guilds and their history. It relies on player submitted log files. The more log files are sent in, the more data is available for player and guild history mapping. Players are able to either send in their unmodified log files (with all the extra information) or there is a PERL script that can pre-process the log files and filter out only the lines needed. In order for someone to use this PERL script, they would first have to install PERL on their computer. Although this is not all that complicated, it is extra hassle nonetheless. What EQLogFilter does is it will replace the PERL script and it will make the filtering process much easier. With it you can run through all your log files, whether it is a single 50MB file or a collection of log files in separate directories. The outcome is a single 'Output.txt' file you can ZIP and e-mail to the database admin. EQLogFilter is a little slower than the PERL script but what is lacks in speed, it gains in ease of use. EQLogFilter is freeware, you are welcome to download it and use it freely. It is written in Visual Basic 6.0. If you already have all the required VB 6.0 files on your computer (MSVBVM60.DLL, MSCOMCTL.OCX, etc), you can just download the executable and help file (EQLogFilter.zip) and copy them to any directory.
If you do not have the VB 6.0 library, etc. files, you should download the installer file (EQLogFilterInstall.zip) which installs all the required VB files and installs EQLogFilter in C:\Program Files\EQLogFilter directory.
EQLogFilter uses a freeware library called AgHyperText from Agendum Software This library enables the URL's in the 'About' dialog which Visual Basic 6 does not support natively. The required OCX file is installed automatically with the setup program but I have also included it in the non-installer ZIP file. You can just leave it in the same directory as where EQLogFilter.exe is and it will load it from there.
