RANDY DAVIS'

MARSHALL TUCKER BAND

WEB PAGE

ON THE INTERNET CONTINUOUSLY SINCE JANUARY 1997

I've been a Marshall Tucker Band fan since about 1974. I saw the original lineup of MTB in concert three times.  I've seen the "post-Caldwell era" MTB, which is led by original  lead vocalist Doug Gray, about thirty-three times.  I have all the albums ever recorded by the group.

My MTB web page may very well be the oldest continually functioning MTB fan page on the Internet.  Anyone remember Keith Donaldson's web page or Jeff Kilpatrick's old lyrics page?

LIVE From The Garden State 1981

Winners Selected! Gary Hill and Mark Wilder were selected to receive a free copy of LIVE From The Garden State 1981 From Randy Davis' MTB Page.

Gary Hill's Entry

Hi Randy, I have seen the MTB a number of times, but one of the most memorable times was at a place called Melody Fair on 8/21/98. My wife and I were sitting around outside the venue having a beer on a beautiful August day while shooting the breeze among some of the crowd. When out walks Doug Gray to check out the people and get some fresh air. My wife spotted him and I called him over. He was gracious enough to come over and engage us in a conversation. We talked awhile and he said he had to be going but would be back to talk some more. We thought sure thing to ourselves. Much to our surprise he did come back about 20 minutes later and bought us a beer talked some more and even gave my wife a tambourine. Then went out and did a kick-ass show. That was a great memory. I appreciate the opportunity to be able to tell that story.

Mark Wilder's Entry

Here are some of my memories…

As a senior in 1972, I saw the MTB for the first time at Scope in Norfolk, 7th row center for $10, the bill:   The Beach Boys, With Marshall Tucker Band, featuring the Eagles……….whew!!!  The next year I went to Va. Tech, bought my first MTB album and I've been a member of the clergy since…..

1979, MTB IN Norfolk again, just married , pic up the phone and call the Omni and ask for Toy, the phone rings and I start to stutter, told him what a fan I was and would love to meet him, he said come to the bar after the show and he would see ya there, I hung up and called Jerry, and told him what a fan I was , he said come to the bar .  After the show with CDB and Grinderswitch went to the bar went up to Jerry who said where's our table , the whole band came over, we closed the bar, before leaving Jerry asked if I could make the Richmond show the next night……..you know the answer , backstage passes were waiting, haven't had to buy a ticket since!!  Still have the autographed pic on my office wall.  Just down home country boys who can play!!!!

Saw Toy in Coinjock N.C after he left the band and have a copy of the original release of his solo.

In the early 90's I meet Rusty after the Chesapeake Jubilee, we became friends and have probably played golf a dozen times while he was with the band.

I could go on and on, conversations with Doug, backstage with Stuart and Chris just last summer at Harborfest, I can honestly boast that I'm probably the Biggest MTB fan east of the Mississippi.

Tucker News & Comments

I have my copy of Beyond The Horizon. There are some unbelievable songs on the cd. My favorites are Ride of Your Life, King of the Delta Blues, Midnight Promises, and Angel (With A Honky Tonk Heart). 5-16-04

The remasters sound incredible. The difference in sound quality makes the cost of "re-buying" MTB cd's well worth it. Buy with confidence that you will notice the difference. Plus, the cost if very reasonable.  2-20-04
