New Business

There was a discussion of the handicap limits for the upcoming June 1-2-3 Tournament.  The idea of limits on handicaps had been discussed at the October 2001 Board Meeting and the minutes of that meeting included the following statement: “After discussion, the board agreed that limits on handicaps may be appropriate in some formats involving team play or partner's play.”  This policy is consistent with the SCGA guidelines on competition and handicaps that recommends limiting or modifying handicaps for team competition.  Carlos said that he had received a lot of feedback questioning the policy, so the Board entertained a motion of rescinding the idea of limited handicaps in some forms of team play.  The Board unanimously defeated the motion and the policy of limited handicaps for some forms of team play for Men’s Club tournaments was confirmed.  For formats other than team play and for events stressing participation over fair competition, the handicaps will continue to be unlimited.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 A.M.  The next meeting will be July 2nd, 2002 at 9:00 A.M. at the golf course.
