Minutes of Board Meeting

DATE:            Tuesday, September 3rd , 2002

TIME:             9:00 A.M.

PLACE:           Horsethief Golf Club

The meeting was called to order by President Carlos Lillywhite.  Additional board members present were Secretary Steve Cherry and Handicap and Membership Chairman Cecil Clark. Tournament Chairman Tom Crumrine and Social Chairman Ted Andrews were also present.  Treasurer Paul Beckett and Board Members Dick Burris and Jesse Ramirez were absent.

SOCIAL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:  Ted Andrews presented a list of menu options for the upcoming General Membership Meeting on September 14th.  The Board Members present recommended trying the Chef’s Choice Club Champion menu.  This is a buffet consisting of Char Siu Pork Spareribs, Apricot Glazed Chicken, Grilled Red Snapper, Lyonnaise Potatoes, Saffron Rice, Steamed Blue Lake String Beans, Wild Green Lettuce Salad, and Peach Cobble with Blueberries and Cream. If you don’t like the menu at the dinner, don’t blame Ted.

SECRETARY'S REPORT:  Steve Cherry reported that the Member-Guest results were submitted to the Mountain Signal Newspaper.  He also reported expenses of $24.35 for mailing labels and ballots for the upcoming Board Member’s election.

TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Tom Crumrine reported that the Labor Day Tournament drew 65 players. The Flight winners were Derek Olin, Lee Olin, Betty Buss, Gary Olson, and Gene Yochum.  Tom also reported that the sign-up for the Club Championship has been very slow and he solicits everyone’s help in promoting participation.

MEMBERSHIP AND HANDICAP CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:  Cecil Clark reported that membership currently stands at 140 members.  He also reported expenses for mailing election ballots that he will submit to the Treasurer on his return.  Cecil also reminded the Board that the course will need a new computer system in the future to comply with SCGA Handicap procedures.  If the Country Club management is unable or unwilling to make the purchase, a combined Men’s Club and Women’s Club contribution might be an alternative.  This issue was tabled and will have to be addressed by the new Board Members.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 AM.

Respectfully Submitted:

Steve Cherry, Secretary
