Minutes of Board Meeting

 

DATE: Tuesday, April 1 , 2003

 

TIME: 9:30 A.M.

 

PLACE: Horse Thief Country Club

 

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Cherry. Other members present were Vice President J. Taylor, Secretary Bill Duggins, Roger Hooks and Tony Lazenby.  Others in attendance were Tom Crumrine, Cecil Clark, and HTCC representative Tammy Ramirez. Board members absent were Treasurer Paul Beckett and Jesse Ramirez.

 

MINUTES: The minutes of the March 6, 2003 board meeting were read by all board members present. Tony Lazenby made the motion to approve the minutes; Steve Cherry seconded. The minutes, as presented, were approved unanimously.

 

A discussion was held concerning our participation with the Tehachapi High School golf team. Steve Cherry suggested that before next season we hold a clinic for the players and cover rules and golf etiquette. Roger Hooks motioned we make a proposal to the high school coaches that we hold a two-hour clinic before the next season gets started. Steve Cherry seconded. The motion carried.

 

TREASURER'S REPORT: In the absence of Treasurer Beckett, J. Taylor handed out a copy of the Treasurer's Report. It was read and approved by board members. A copy of the report is attached to these minutes.

 

TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Tom Crumrine brought up the tournament schedule The next tournament will be April l9th. It will be a modified shamble with both men and women playing. Tom also discussed the member-member tournament in May and the President's Cup in June.

 

Roger Hooks brought up the poor quality of the course greens. Tammy Ramirez responded that Tim Kelly and his crew would be spraying the greens this week or next.

 

Cecil Clark reported that the Bear Valley golf course has offered to lend their vertical equipment to the Horse Thief Golf Course at any time.

 

A discussion was held concerning the certification of a new handicap chairman when, or if Cecil Clark leaves the area.

Steve Cherry discussed an upcoming SCGA Tournament at Robinson Ranch golf course.

Representing HTMGC will be Jack' Buss and Steve Cherry.  The tournament will be played on April 29th.

 

Steve Cherry mentioned he received a phone call firm Scott Phillips concerning club memberships. Sctott was asking for suggestions firm the men’s club on ways to increase the number of memberships. A discussion was held with no serious revelations on the subject.

 

There being no more new business the next meeting was scheduled for May 6 at 9:30 a.m.
