Minutes of Board Meeting

 

 

DATE:              Tuesday, May 6 2003

 

TIME:              9:25 A.M.

 

PLACE:            Horse Thief Country Club

 

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Cherry.  Board members in attendance were Vice President Jay Taylor, Treasurer Paul Beckett, Secretary Bill Duggins, Tony Lazenby, and Roger Hooks. Others in attendance were Cecil Clark, Bob Azevedo, Tom Crumrine, Chris Cooper, Jack Buss, Dick Burris and Horse Thief representative Tammy Ramirez.

 

Minutes of the April 1, 2003 meeting were read by all board members present and approved as submitted.

 

SOCIAL CHAIRMAN: Jack Buss brought up the subject of lunch on Saturday, May 17th, for the Member-Member Tournament. Jack has asked Marty Brown of the 19th Hole to provide hamburgers, chips and drinks for players as they finish the tournament.

Cost of the food is to be covered by the men's club. A motion to confirm this was made

by Jay Taylor and seconded by Steve Cherry. The motion carried unanimously.

 

HANDICAP CHMRMAN:  Cecil Clark reported that with two new members the HTMGC now has 126 members.

 

Cecil recommended that Jim Jackson be named to replace him as handicap chairman. Further discussion on Cecil's replacement will be held at a later date.

 

TOURNAMENT CHMRMAN:  Tom Crumrine reported that the Member-Member Tournament is expected to have 40-44 players.

 

The President's Cup qualifier is set for June 8th at 8:00 A.M.

 

The Memorial Day Tournament will be on May 26th.  It will be a mixed shamble and limited to 60 players.

 

The cost for the Member-Guest Tournament in August is estimated at $200 per team.

 

Chris Cooper discussed proper and timely input of scores into SCGA's database. Proper input is essential for up-to-date handicap maintenance.


 

TREASURER'S REPORT: Paul Beckett provided each board member with a copy of the monthly report. A copy of the report is attached to these minutes.

 

Bill Duggins made a motion that the HTMGC donate another $200 to the Tehachapi High School Golf Team.  Roger Hooks seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. With no other new business the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 A.M. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, June 3.2003.
