Sir Bob’s Domain

Welcome to beautiful Northern California, in spirit if not in person. For those of you who are not familiar with our area we are about half way between the San Francisco Bay and the Oregon border. It is home to Area 32 of Sons in Retirement, a huge body of fresh water that is home to millions of (don't tell those Dixie fishermen) bass, and about 58,000 people who love the peace and quiet (we had a crime last week), and polite, helpful people.

The map should help a little.

We know also that many of you are not aware that there really is civilization north of San Francisco. Many others say that there isn’t much there either, and that the extent of that quality diminishes geometrically as you travel in any direction therefrom. To find out where we are, stick a pin in San Francisco, carefully please. As the crow flies go 90 miles north, it's a little farther if the crow has to walk, especially with a gasoline can, and take a look over your left shoulder. That body of blue water spread out below you is Clear Lake, the largest natural body of fresh water in California.

If you look along the northwest section of the lake you will see Lakeport and Kelseyville. Now, look closely, we are down there somewhere. And if you look real closely, you will see the Lakeport Lagoons, where this webmaster lives and process E-mail; no snail mail allowed.
And speaking of E-mail, we have been the recipients of mail from such diverse areas as: England, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and states across the country. We are pleased to add our largest state, Alaska to that list. Now there's another beautiful place to visit.
Here is our piece of that world in the midst of grass and trees, and on the other side

an inlet of the lake teeming with wildlife. That white speck on the far dock is
an egret on a fishing expedition. He got one.

And families of ducks, mostly mallards, who can be entertaining and just plain fun to watch.
Visit this site from time to time for information on what is happening in and around Lakeport. We will also include much of the surrounding area which contains the smaller communities of Kelseyville, Upper Lake, Nice and Lucerne, that still exhibit those qualities of small-town America we came to love over the years, and the S.I.R Branches that function there. When was the last time you could launch your boat without paying a fee, enjoy a picnic where your biggest problems are ants, and breathe in pure air? Sorry if you are a skeptic, because you can’t see, smell or taste the air here, on record as the cleanest, purest air in all of the 158,000 plus square miles in this state.
Take time to visit one or more of our specialty pages. We have information on local activities, on the activities of local Sons in Retirement Branches, and we have also thrown in a little good clean humor. Trust me!

This is your jumping off place to the world and the way of life that we call our own. We invite you to join us, in spirit and person, to see why we moved from such renowned places as Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and Monterey. We all had reasons, and I know of no one who has ever regretted it.
