"Gold Coast" (1997) .... Jeff Kober plays Roland Crowe.

Plot: A mobster's widow inherits $15 million from her deceased husband's estate -- if she stays away from men.  But the hitman assigned to watch her has other plans. -- Based on an Elmore Leonard book.

Character Synopsis:  Roland Crowe is not a brilliant intellect, but he isn't stupid, either.  He is certainly clever, arrogant, a braggart, and a bully.  He believes in his own ability and (warped) charm to get what he wants.  This character is larger, broader and more outrageous than life. Definitely out of the ordinary. Picture of Jeff Kober as Roland Crowe

This movie is not just good.  It is an
original, which is very rare in the movie
business.  However, Roland is the most
interesting character and Jeff is just too
good at playing this creep ... and, damn,
those are some ugly cowboy suits he wears!  But he has some wonderful, funny moments ... like when he jumps on her bed and breaks it.  Kober fans will be pleased to know he gets a lot of screen time.   He also seems to be enjoying himself.  I'm sure Roland is the kind of role actors dream of landing.  This is a very good movie that deserves its good reviews.    --   songbird
