Plot:
A drifter, depressed and suicidal, comes to a small desert town to visit a friend, give
him a gift and ask for permission to die. But before he reaches his friend, he is
robbed, shot and left to die by three thuggish brothers. Now, to get his friend's gift
back, he must take on the brothers and their drug-trafficking partners. Character Synopsis:
Beserko is pretty much what his name implies ... a
hot-head. He is also a member of the motorcycle gang in league with the "thug
brothers." Jeff doesn't get much screen time, but his characterization is
strong enough to come across as more than just another bad guy waiting to get his butt
kicked. |
Review:
I can't believe I'm saying this, but this isn't a
bad movie ... especially considering it is a Jean-Claude Van Dam movie. There is
some gratuitous (read: unnecessary) sex, but overall the acting is surprisingly good, the
plot isn't silly and none of the characters are painted in over-the-top good-guy or
bad-guy stereotypes. In fact, it is a modern-day western plot ... plain and simple.
Those into "hack and slash" action movies will be disappointed.
There are no outrageous fight scenes (i.e. people getting the shit kicked out of them but
never getting bruised) and there is no overly brilliant but complicated "trick"
concocted by the hero to beat the bad guys. In fact, most of the fights are
believable. Also, none of the characters are overly stupid, overly brilliant or overly
anything but odd. They are, however, believable in their oddities. -- songbird
