| Character Synopsis: Ward's
spirit has been trapped on Alcatraz for thirty-six years. But he is patient and sure
of his eventual escape. He is methodical, but at the same time, very casual about
killing ... not gleeful or vicious. He is menacing, but not psycho. Killing
is a normal and familiar act for him ... fun, even. The pleasure he gets from it is
like the pleasure a cigarette smoker gets from lighting up ... it's just something he
likes to do. |
This is a nice little episode ... especially Jeff's part (of course). One thing
that makes Jeff's portrayal stand out is how normal Ward seems. I mean,
normal compared to the "wound up psycho" types you usually see portrayed in
these kind of roles. There is no sense of someone driven or influenced by abuse or
mental instability. Yet, because of his seeming "normality" he is more
threatening and believable. Not a healthy guy to know. -- songbird
