Highway to Heaven (1985) ... Jeff Kober as
Julian Bradley.
Episode: The Monster, Part I&II. (back) (TV/Cable)
(Movies) (Theater) (Main Page)
Plot: A young man with an ugly birth mark on his face has lived isolated from people who mock him and call him "monster." But hope for human acceptance and love become his when he meets a young, blind woman.
Character Synopsis: Julian's life has been
hard. Not only do the townspeople treat him as something to be shunned, but his own
mother keeps him hidden as though his appearance is shameful. These experiences have
scarred him emotionally, leaving him
desperate for human contact, acceptance
and affection.
This is a classic retelling of the fable "Beauty
and the Beast," with Jeff in the role of "the
Beast" ... a role he will reprise later in
Kindred: The Embraced. It doesn't matter
that the story is predictable it is done well,
and Jeff is terrific. Jeff brings a wonderful
sense of humanity to this character. He is shy,
anguished, fearful, angry, hopeful, tentative, gentle, kind, tortured, awkward, earnest
..... all these things in one wonderful, fluid performance. And, boy, he does have
beautiful eyes. -- songbird
