 Come experience the winter wilderness from the comfort of Sierra Sherpa's Yurt. A Yurt is an ancient tent design created by Mongolian nomads, and offers recreation and relaxation in comfort and style. After a full day of skiing you can warm your feet beside the fire as our staff prepares a delicious meal. Our Yurt base camp is at an elevation of 8000 feet and is located 4 miles deep in the Sierra Nevada backcountry. The Yurt is fully equipped with a wood-stove, cots, sleeping pads, H20, tables, and plenty of hooks to hang and dry your gear. This package includes three tasty meals, transportation of all necessary gear, a day guide, and an experience of a life time.

Avalanche Awareness Tour |

 It is always important to understand the wilderness you are interested in enjoying. The threat of an avalanche in the winter backcountry is very real, and if you plan to spend any amount of time exploring and adventuring in the winter wilderness you must be able to recognize any hazards that may exist. Sierra Sherpa's Avalanche Awareness Tour is an introduction to avalanche safety with an emphasis on terrain evaluation, route finding, weather, search and rescue techniques, snow stability, and winter survival. This tour includes all of the features of the Yurt Tour, plus personalized instruction from our experienced guides.

Dog Sled Tour |

 Sierra Sherpa in conjunction with Wilderness Adventures, is offering overnight dog sled tours. The dog sled tour includes all that the yurt tour offers, plus the experience and thrill of traveling to the yurt behind a team of eager huskies. You will gain a basic understanding of the commands and techniques used in dog sled control along with a comfortable, catered stay at the yurt.
$250 includes dog sled tour with all the features of Sierra Sherpa's Yurt Tour and a guided ski out at the end of your stay. $375 for two nights. $475 for Avalanche awareness tour. |

Backcountry Telemark Instruction |

 Telemark skiing is an ancient form of Nordic descent, and in recent years has experienced a revolution in equipment advances. These advances have made the difficult and demanding technique easier and more comfortable. Sierra Sherpa teaches not only the downhill technique, but all the skills necessary for backcountry touring. This service can be added to any of the preceding options, or purchased as a day tour.
