(See equipment checklist.) After introductions, equipment check, and a review of the route to be toured, your guide will lead you to the Yurt via a pre-selected route. There are a few routes used by Sierra Sherpa. The average route being about 4 miles, and it takes an intermediate skier about three hours. When you arrive at the Yurt your guide will familiarize your group with the area, suggest slopes (appropriate for your group's ability) for you to ski, discuss snow and avalanche conditions, and give weather forecasts for your trip. You may choose to ski, explore, review the day's adventure, or kick back and enjoy the comfort of the Yurt while experiencing a high sierra sunset as we prepare and serve dinner. The next morning you will be served breakfast early so you can explore the winter wilderness and begin adding up your vertical. After a weather and snow conditions report we will send you off for a day of adventure with a bagged lunch to enjoy on the trail. We will also discuss a time to meet back at the Yurt so we can gather your gear for transportation out. Your guide will then ski you back to the trail head. |
