CLASSICAL MUSIC

Bassoon Concerto (First Movement) (83K)
Time - 8:27
It began as a musical joke, with the bassoon playing only what bassoonists usually play in an orchestration. Then I got serious with it.

August 1999 winner of MIDI Demo of the Month at The Midiots

Time - 6:30

Bassoon Concerto (Third Movement) (80K)

Concerto for Oboe, Strings and Continuo (51K)
Time - 3:50
Dedicated to my friend Mikael in Canada. This is yet another trip to the 16th century, a visit with George Frederick Handel, or perhaps Georg Philipp Telemann.

Dialogues - Concerto for Viola and Chamber Orchestra(147K)
Time - 13:41
I am learning to like atonal music again. This piece is scored for Solo Viola, 2 Celli, a Bass, four Woodwinds, Keyboard and Percussion. This is the GM version.

Elegy for Harp (10K)
Time - 3:06
I was doing a cameo of a theme for a violin concerto. I tried a few different sounds, and the harp was perfect. I never finished the old violin concerto...
New mix 7/12/99!!!

King Arthur's Revenge (32K)
Time - 3:29
Originally written as a joke entry for Lavio Paresci's "Pixel Arts" MIDI contest, I decided this tune has enough classical merit to post in this area. It's a march depicting the return of King Arthur's knights.

King Odysseus Suite (112K)
Time - 9:35
Journey back in time with me to re-live the legacy of Homer's epic novel, "The Odyssey".

Marche Slob (26K)
Time - 2:25
My apologies to Mr. Tschaikovsky...

March to the Kremlin (77K)
Time - 4:30
I wrote this march after reading "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy. It is dedicated to those unfortunate Russian sailors aboard the submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in August, 2000.

September 2000 1st Place at MIDI STUDIO CONSORTIUM

August 2000 3rd Place at MIDI Music Festival

Passacaglia in C# Minor (40K)
Time - 7:07
By the definition of "Passacaglia", this is a set of variations over a ground bass. Written in the Baroque style, it is scored for Violin, Oboe and Alto Recorder, Strings and Continuo.

Pastoral for Strings and Timpani (11K)
Time - 3:14
I imagined a scene of pastorale beauty - sunset over the Painted Desert in Arizona.

Piano Concerto #1 in C Minor (First Movement)(182K)
Time - 14:11

Mixed on the AWE64 sound card with THIS 512K sound font bank.

Sounds best on SoundBlaster Live with the Cadenza Sound Font Bank. I would reccommend replacing the Grand Piano patch with the "Yamaha 9-ft. Concert Grand" patch found in the "Reality" bank.

Click here to download the MP3 recording. (It's BIG!!)

Piano Concerto #1 in C Minor (Second and Third Movements)(214K)
Time - 17:25

Prelude and Fugue for Woodwinds (23K)
Time - 3:40
Here's a time trip back to the Baroque era!

Preludius Maximus (For Two Harpsichords) (28K)
Time - 4:35
My baroque fetish continues with this prelude and fugue in C Major for two harpsichords. May I recommend using the "Campbell's Tuned Harpsichord" Soundfont available at The Sound Site. (See Soundfont page for more information.)

Renaissance Affair (27K)
Time - 1:57
Travel back in time with me to the middle ages...

Scherzo for Piano (17K)
Time - 2:22
Here's a piece I wrote as a composition assignment in college. I got an A- because of a cross-relation (which I had intended!)

Scherzo for Orchestra (44K)
Time - 2:32
The orchestrated version of the Scherzo for Piano.

Sinfonia in G Minor (1st Movement - Adagio / Allegro) (46K)
Time - 5:38
Back to the Baroque! This is an experiment with Baroque music for a stage musical called Tom Jones. The action takes place in the late 1600's, hence the Bach / Telemann / Vivaldi / Handel atmosphere.

Sinfonia in G Minor (2nd Movement - Bouree) (35K)
Time - 2:25
More of the above.

Sinfonia in G Minor (3rd Movement - Pastorale) (26K)
Time - 3:29
More of the above.

Sinfonia in G Minor (4th Movement - Minuet) (22K)
Time - 1:45
More of the above.

Sonata for Clarinet and Piano (66K)
Time - 13:16
First this was a Viola Sonata, then became an Organ Sonata. Due to popular demand it is now a Clarinet Sonata. It is in four movements. I have sheet music available for both the Clarinet Sonata and the Organ Sonata. E-mail me for details.

Sonata for Flute and Piano (50K)
Time - 11:25
This is a full four-movement concert piece for Flute and Piano in my latest sytle, drifting constantly between tonality and atonality. Sheet music is available, E-mail me for details.

Springtime in Bosnia (25K)
Time - 2:30
Here's a little ethnic octet, a Southeast European Moment if you prefer.

Symphony #1 in G Minor - First Movement (173K)
Time - 12:58
I started writing this piece when I still had a Pentium Processor. My motherboard fried out, and I had it replaced with an AMD 1800+. I don't know what happened, but my MIDI has never been the same. Last summer I bought my first Macintosh computer, and I finally set up an orchestra using my three synth modules. With 96 channels and more polyphony than a 300 voice choir, I took up the Symphony again, this time I finished it. I've reworked the file in GM to post here. It may be a little too much in a few places. I have an MP3 file of the modular recording, but it's over 11 megs. I also have a low-resolution version for E-mailing, which is about 5 megs.

Tragic Overture, Op. 81 (133K)By Johannes Brahms
Time - 13:14
OK, I know... I didn't write it, I only sequenced it. But I had so much fun with this piece, I just had to share it. It was a pet project for about a year and a half.

Toccata for Organ (10K)
Time - 1:35
I wrote this one between semesters back in college. It is mostly atonal. It is also my first MIDI created with a program called Sibelius. I set the MIDI playback for "Molto Espressivo", and look what came out...

Violin Concerto in E Minor (First Movement) (161K)
Time - 11:20
OK, all you Gypsies out there. This Bud's for you! Completed 6/4/00. This file sounds best with the Sound Blaster Live, use the Cadenza soundfont. Or if you have 256MB of memory or more, download my personal soundfont bank on which this piece was created. If you are using the AWE64 or similar, you may wish to add some modulation to the solo violin track.

Violin Concerto in E Minor (Second Movement) (42K)
Time - 8:03

November 1999 First Place winner at the TOS MIDI contest.

Violin Concerto in E Minor (Third Movement) (63K)
Time - 4:28

At long last, the third movement. Sorry for the wait. This piece is not one of my personal favorites - despite its popularity - and it remained on the back burner for almost a year.

Waltz #1 in B minor (14K)
Time - 2:11
I wrote this one in High School.

Waltz #2 in D major (21K)
Time - 3:34
The two waltzes are the only surviving compositions from my pre-college days.

Midnight Romance (16K)
Time - 1:33
Here's a classy little ditty I wrote as part of an ongoing project underscoring online greeting cards.

On Top of the World (57K)
Time - 2:48
This is the last thing I wrote in the 20th century. It's a happy upbeat tune that would work well as a montage or sitcom theme.

Power Music (87K)
Time - 4:05
A techno-orchestral endeavor.

Silent Movie (25K)
Time - 3:49
Imagine an action scene in an old silent movie... you're sitting at the old upright piano...

Space Music (31K)
Time - 2:15
This could be a battle scene in outer space...

Space Titles (45K)
Time - 2:18
Here's a main title sequence I wrote for a student film. The producer filmed a Star Wars text rollup, followed by a pan down to a ship at sea. I took a John Williams approach.

We be spyin'!

Evening has fallen in the big city. You're dressed for dinner. You step into the elevator...

Carlos (26K)
Time - 3:11
This is an interactive composition, co-composed by Rusty Redden. When I finished with it, it reminded me or Carlos Santana's "Europa", hence the title.

Concrete Cowboy (56K)
Time - 4:12
Here's a midi version of a song I wrote about 10 years ago. It's about freeway shootings and 2-ton 4X4's.

And yet another tune for the greeting card page. A rocker this time.

Freeway (127K)

Funky 486 (39K)
Time - 1:59
I actually wrote this one on a funky old 486. It's a fusion tune

Plectromania (53K)
Time - 2:52
I tried to write one using nothing but plucked sounds. After a while, I just had to add a little spice. This is a truly unique piece, kinda like a Tarantella.

Rock Roll !! (33K)

I wrote this one to test my skills at writing a theme for a cartoon or game show.
