This is a photo taken before 1863 of my great great grandfather. The image was printed on glass and is in the original frame. It is one of two that I have safely tucked away. His name was Tipton H. Ratliff and lived in Osceola Iowa. He died at his mother's house in Indiana during the Civil War.  His parents were, John Ratliff    (b.1803 Chatham co., NC   d.27 Nov 1852)  Cecilia Johnson (b1809 Chatham co., NC).

I have now begun to look for the ancestors of my father.  I was able to contact someone (truly an angel) in Waedenswil, Switzerland  where my grandfather was born.  She was able to retrieve some information from the municipality that gave the names of my Great Great Grandparents.  She has also translated many documents and letters into English, and that gave me more names from my Grandmother, including her mother.

I can't honestly take credit for all the research that has been done on my family history.  Most of it was done by people who are able to travel and search the National archives, state archives and others who have documents from our ancestors.
