Melchizedek,
Priest
of the Most High GOD,
and King of
Salem...
"Then Melchizedek, the King of Salem, brought out bread and wine;
for he was a
priest of the Most High GOD."
Genesis 14:18
Salem means 'Peace', so he was 'King of Peace'.
Melchizedek is the only person in the Old Testament to be both
a Priest and a King.
"Without father, without mother, without genealogy,
having neither beginning
of days nor end of life,
but likened to the Son of GOD, he continues a Priest forever."
Hebrews 7:3
Melchisedek is a Christ Figure.
Jesus Christ is the only New Testament figure to be both
Priest and King.
"...called by GOD a High Priest
according to the order of Melchisedek."
Hebrews 5:10
"And He had on His
garment and on His thigh a name written,
King of
Kings and Lord of Lords."
Revelation 19:16
Melchizedek brought out bread
and wine for Abram in Genesis 14:18.
This is a prefigurement of the
sacrifice of the Mass where bread and wine
are transubstantiated into the Body and Blood and Soul and
Divinity
of Jesus
Christ.
Matthew 26:26-29
"Thou art a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisedek."
Hebrews
5:6
